I am brand new to road biking and after much research and consideration I decided to go with the Specialized Allez Elite. Even though I was looking for an Endurance style bike, the Allez fit me the best. I feel extremely comfortable on the frame; the geometry of this bike is outstanding. The stopping power on the brake system is fantastic. I have been very impressed with how well this bike handles. Even though I wear padded shorts, the saddle that this bike comes with is just awful. It's a fairly light bike, but not super light. Other than that, this bike is great and I highly recommend it to any new road cyclist.

I was looking for a road bike that would be sturdy enough for a daily commute and enough features to be a strong introduction in longer weekend rides. This bike fit the bill perfectly. The frame seems lighter than its Allez sister or hybrid cousins but not at the carbon gram cutting level. It's sturdy and hosts a good set of parts that certainly feel like a big upgrade from other entry level bikes. The Tiagra set does feel a little heavy after taking it out after a few rides and it doesn't shift as smoothly as I would expect. As a first road bike, it's more than sufficient to hold up and build my strength before upgrading to a dedicated road bike.

My wife tried the Dolce and was not impressed, so i have her try the elite and she loved it! She said the bike handles real well and every time we ride I can see that she really enjoying riding this bike. I'm so happy that I purchased this bike for her birthday!

i have been riding a red Cannondale SL_4 to get back into shape for a year now. walking hurts so biking was the perfect alternative. hubby had gotten a Cannondale SL_4 2yrs ago. and then found a used 2007 Specialized Allez Elite online. he's been riding that for a year now. i enjoy riding trail but my Cannondale just couldn't keep up with his roadie. i struggled to keep even close to him. so i set a goal this yr of dropping 50lbs to get a good road bike so i could ride with him. well, the weather decided to be active and limited my pedal time. but i got on Red when i could. well, April 26, 2014, hubby wanted to check out Plano Cycling & Fitness. he had a coupon from Specialized and wanted to pick up something for his bike. as we walked around exploring the store, he went looking for what he wanted. and me, i looked at the bikes. i wanted a bike with red and guess what! i found it! it was on the top row of bikes. hubby encouraged me to get a bike fit. with a little hesitation i agreed. the gentleman that helped me was knowledgeable and explained everything. i fit a 52. so i was encouraged to ride that size but there were none on the bottom for easy reach. so the bike i decided on was retrieved and out the door we went. i rode the bike for about 15 minutes. not comfortable with brifters i played with them and the brakes. as i got more comfortable, i noticed the bike really fit me. i was quite comfortable in the saddle. when i finished, hubby took me off guard when he asked if that's the bike i want. he then said, i can have it. guess the price was right cuz normally i have to wait on items that high. not only did i get the bike, but i got all the accessories too. even found the perfect helmet to match. so now Red and Roadie have a place in the garage. i am still awed that i have such a nice bike. the associates that helped us were exceptional. no one tried to sell us anything we didn't want. thanks for having good people and great prices.

This was my first bike and it is absolutely amazing. I did my research on all the best entry level bikes and this one was on the top. And I can definitely see why. Great for climbing hills. Absolutely satisfied with my purchase

As Joseph said, the heavy weight is easy to fix. My 54cm weighed 22.4 lb when I first took it home. Swapping to lightweight clinchers and folding tires dropped it to 19.5 right there, and 105 clipless pedals brought it down to 19.1. A Toupe saddle was good for another half pound, and just for fun, I took the full carbon fork off my old bike (frame cracked) and that took another pound off. Seventeen and a half pounds means it's not the frame or drivetrain that makes it porky. It would have been nice to have 105 brakes instead of the weak generic ones, but it is otherwise a very worthy bike for me, and I have been riding avidly, including centuries and races, for 18 years. If you want a decent bike that will last a long time and be fun to ride, get the last one left at this store!

People con the bike as heavy yet still buy it anyway. (Hmmmmm, makes you wonder huh?) 20.68 lbs for metal is outstanding. I prefer all around quality at an affordable price, which is why I went with my 2010 Specialized Allez Elite. Tarmac frame similarities, quality components and a great name on the side. Plus it looks cool. I upgraded my wheels to Mavic Ksyrium Equipe's and my stem to a pro-set Specialized. I now own an 18 pound non carbon bike and saved tons of money. After I purchase my TRP 950sl brake calipers and carbon bars she'll be in the mid 17 lb range. A 17 lb bike under $2k, [...] you make the call. This bike has done me right in every way and I'm confident that you will not be disappointed, plus your wallet won't hurt as much. LOL.

Probably the least expensive, name-brand bike you can get that has Shimano 105 components all-around. This is the first road bike I've purchased and it's great. The original tires got tons of flats but I switched to all-condition Armadillo tires and haven't had any problems since. The ride is a bit stiff and I have to shake my hands a lot from the vibration. Looks great and would recommend to anyone.

I just got back into cycling and was looking for a good solid bike without Tour de France prices. After looking at more bikes that I can count and trying several with the help of specialist, I chose this one. I have not been dissapointed. While it is a little heavy and I will probably upgrade components in a few years, this back has served my purposes great. Mainly using it for health training (which the little extra weight helps), the bike has met all expectation. I will ride this frame until either I or it breaks.
